Abstract

This study examines the importance of BIM technology in construction projects and its major role in achieving sustainability, with a particular focus on the Revit software package. Its contributions to building sustainability were analyzed through a descriptive-analytical methodology involving an applied case study of a specific building modeled using Revit. The findings indicated that Revit plays a significant role in promoting building sustainability through its contribution to improving the indoor environment of buildings and achieving thermal and visual comfort, with direct implications for energy savings, as it enables designers to take into account solar movement and prevailing wind direction at the construction site. It also contributes to detecting clashes and conflicts before they occur during construction. In addition, Revit plays an important role in water conservation, as it enables accurate identification of pipe diameters used in plumbing and drainage systems, as well as their quantities, lengths, required fittings, bends, expected maintenance points, and other related data. The study concluded that BIM technologies should be adopted in the construction industry, particularly Revit, due to their major benefits in improving building quality and achieving the desired level of sustainability.
